Mumbai, 04 Mar (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party has

announced names of four candidates for election to Rajya Sabha. The names

include Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, BJP’s senior leader and former

Maharashtra Minister Vinod Tawde, Hingoli District Unit President Ramrao

Wadkute and former Mayor of Nagpur Maya Ivnate.

Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Nationalist Congress Pary

Parth Pawar, son of late Ajit Pawar as the party’s candidate.

The last date of filing nomination papers is March 5

and polling, if required, will be held on March 16. The counting of votes will

be carried out on the same date after the polling.

Efforts are being made to conduct the elections

without any opposition.

NCP (Sharad Pawar), UBT Sena are interested in

nomination of Sharad Pawar to rajya Sabha. His daughter Surpiya Sule is also

projecting his name. Pawar will require support of Maha-Vikas Aghadi partners

for completing the quota of required votes.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra

Fadnavis has said that BJP may field fifth candidate, if MVA fails to select

Sharad Pawar as its candidate. BJP-Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar) alliance has enough
