Guwahati/Jagiroad, 30 March (HS): Nitin Navin, National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress while addressing a massive election rally at Devshal in Assam’s Jagiroad area on Monday.
The rally witnessed a large turnout as Nitin Navin campaigned in support of BJP candidate Pijush Hazarika from the Jagiroad Assembly constituency. Addressing the gathering, he asserted that the BJP’s “double-engine government” is consistently working towards the holistic development of Assam.
Targeting the Congress, Navin stated that frequent visits by Narendra Modi to Assam and the Northeast have given the region a new identity, something that was lacking during the Congress regime. He emphasized that such engagement has strengthened development initiatives across the state.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in empowering women socially and economically, Navin urged voters to ensure a decisive victory for Pijush Hazarika to accelerate development in the region.
He further alleged that during Congress rule, external investors were hesitant to invest in Assam, whereas the past decade under BJP governance has significantly improved the investment climate in the state.
Several prominent leaders, including Dilip Saikia, Ramakanta Deuri, Shashikant Das, Dr. Tapan Das, Khalilur Rahman, and Anil Saikia, were present at the event along with party workers.
Expressing confidence, candidate Pijush Hazarika said the overwhelming public response at the rally has further boosted his morale.
Notably, Nitin Navin arrived in Assam on a two-day visit on Sunday, landing in Dibrugarh. He attended the Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme with party leaders at Mohanbari Airport before proceeding to campaign in Tinsukia district’s Margherita constituency. He also addressed a large rally in Bihpuria in Lakhimpur district. Despite inclement weather, his rallies have continued to draw significant crowds across the state.-----------
