
Guwahati, 27 March (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday interacted with 44 youth participants from Chhattisgarh and New Delhi under the “Ashtalakshmi Darshan, 2026 Youth Exchange Programme” at Lok Bhawan in Guwahati.
During the interaction, the Governor highlighted the rich traditions and cultural diversity of the eight Northeastern states, with special emphasis on Assam. He stated that the strength of India lies in its youth, whose energy and values are crucial in shaping the nation’s future. Stressing the importance of national unity, discipline and responsibility, he encouraged the participants to actively contribute to nation-building and embrace the spirit of “Rashtra Bhav” and “Rashtra Sewa”.
Acharya noted that such exchange programmes play a significant role in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening bonds between different regions of the country. He urged the participants to share their experiences with their families and peers, describing Assam as a “Mini India” due to its unique cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity.
The Governor also felicitated the participants with a traditional ‘Fulam Gamocha’ and presented them with inspirational books.
Earlier, two participants shared their experiences of the programme with the Governor. The 14-day “Ashtalakshmi Darshan, 2026 Youth Exchange Programme,” hosted by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, aims to provide exposure to the socio-cultural, historical and ecological richness of the Northeastern region.-----------
