Kanpur, 25
March (HS): In nine years of reconstruction, Uttar Pradesh has set new
standards for good governance, security, and all-round development, and today
the state has emerged as a model for the country. This was stated on Wednesday
by Yogendra Upadhyay, the state's Higher Education Minister and Minister
in-charge of Kanpur Nagar.
Addressing
a press conference as part of the Nine Years of Uttar Pradesh
Reconstruction program held at the Naveen Auditorium at Sarasaiya Ghat,
he said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the
leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has seen widespread
change in every sector. Describing this period as years of
prosperity, he said that the living standards of villages, the poor,
farmers, youth, and women have improved significantly. Amid the presence of
public representatives and officials at the event, he mentioned changes ranging
from law and order to infrastructure, education, investment, and social
schemes.
Minister
Upadhyay said that as a result of the zero tolerance policy implemented in the
state, there has been unprecedented improvement in law and order and a
significant reduction in crimes like robbery, loot, murder and kidnapping.
Effective action against organized crime and mafia networks has strengthened
the environment of security and trust. With a view to women's safety, measures
like Mission Shakti, women helpline services and beat policing have provided a
safe environment for women. Furthermore, the establishment of cyber crime
police stations and the expansion of forensic science laboratories have further
strengthened the police system.
He said
that Uttar Pradesh has today become the country's largest micro, small, and
medium enterprise hub, receiving investment proposals worth over Rs. 50 lakh crore. The expressway
network, airport expansion, the Defense Industrial Corridor, and digital
connectivity have made the state a major hub for industrial development.
Significant progress has also been made in the agriculture sector, where record
payments have been ensured to sugarcane farmers and financial assistance is
being provided to millions of farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman
Nidhi Yojana.
Highlighting
the development of Kanpur city, the minister said that since 2017, 252
development projects have been completed in the district at a cost of
approximately Rs. 1,503 crore (189 lakh rupees). Housing, sanitation, health,
education, and social security schemes have expanded significantly. Under the
Swachh Bharat Mission, sanitation has been promoted through the construction of
toilets on a large scale, while millions of people have benefited from health
security under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Schemes like Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, and
Svanidhi have economically empowered the needy.
In terms
of infrastructure development, the Kanpur Metro, Ring Road, thermal power
projects, and facilities developed under the Smart City initiative are giving
the city a modern look. In the education sector, initiatives such as
e-learning, smart classrooms, e-libraries, and tablet distribution are
providing modern education to students. He expressed confidence that in the
future, Uttar Pradesh will become a national model for good governance,
investment, education, and inclusive development.
