Nagaon, 25 March (HS): As the countdown to the upcoming Assam assembly elections intensifies, political activities have gained momentum across all seven constituencies of Nagaon district. In this context, Chief Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed an election rally in Nagaon on Wednesday.

The rally was held at the Bhotaideka playground in Bhotaigaon near Nagaon town, where the Chief Minister campaigned in support of BJP-AGP alliance candidate Rupak Sharma for the 60 No. Nagaon-Batadroba assembly constituency. During his address, Sarma announced that if the BJP returns to power, around two lakh youths would be provided with new employment opportunities.

He further stated that five lakh bighas of encroached land would be cleared in the coming days. Highlighting welfare measures, the Chief Minister said that 15 lakh women across the state would be newly included under the Arunodoi scheme, with an additional 10,000 beneficiaries from Nagaon. He also announced financial assistance of ₹25,000 for women and assured free education for students.

During his speech, Sarma also announced plans for the construction of the Guwahati-Nagaon express highway in the near future. The rally was attended by party leaders, workers, and supporters along with candidate Rupak Sharma.----------
