New Delhi, 24 March (H.S.):
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sharply criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modis statements on the West Asia conflict in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday accusing the government of ignoring lessons from Covid mismanagement and compromising Indias energy security.
Speaking to journalists in Parliament premises Gandhi said Modis comparison to a Covid-like crisis conveniently overlooked the governments flawed policies and resultant public suffering during that period. He slammed Indias foreign policy as having devolved into the Prime Ministers personal agenda turning the country into an international laughingstock evident in recent US agreements and speeches that expose the absence of any firm strategic position.
Gandhi warned of looming shortages and price spikes in essential LPG petrol and fertilisers creating fresh challenges for India attributing this to structural failures that have weakened the nations foundational systems. He asserted the current dispensation lacks capacity to handle the brewing storm with repairs demanding years of concerted effort.
