Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Delhi Assemblys Rs 103700 crore budget for FY 2026-27 on Tuesday marking a Rs 3700 crore increase over the previous year with a green theme prioritizing development alongside environmental conservation.
Gupta made clear Delhi is shifting from freebie culture to infrastructure and eco investments with allocations covering education Rs 19326 crore 18.64 percent health Rs 13034 crore 12.57 percent transport roads bridges Rs 12613 crore 12.16 percent urban development Rs 11572 crore 11.16 percent social welfare Rs 10537 crore 10.16 percent water sanitation Rs 9000 crore 8.68 percent public debt Rs 4254 crore 4.10 percent energy Rs 3938 crore 3.80 percent interest payments Rs 2734 crore 2.64 percent agriculture rural development irrigation flood control Rs 1777 crore 1.71 percent others Rs 14915 crore 14.38 percent.
Environment gets 21 percent focus women prosperity scheme Rs 2500 monthly PWD infra Rs 5921 crore revenue expenditure 70.3 percent capital 29.7 percent tax revenue Rs 74000 crore non-tax Rs 900 crore.
Key proposals dedicate 21 percent to green projects embedding environmental concerns in every policy scheme and decision a historic governance shift balancing growth with Mother Earths preservation. Highlights include Rs 5100 crore for women Rs 2500 monthly cycles for class 9 students laptops for class 10 toppers 770 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Rs 1500 crore GTB Hospital trauma centre and Rs 1392 crore for 750 km road recarpeting.
