March (HS): On Saturday, at the fag end of her Uttar Pradesh tour, President
Droupadi Murmu worshiped at the Danghati Temple in Govardhan, according to
officials.The
president took part in the Giriraj Ji Maharaj aarti and performed the Govardhan
Parikrama. According to Deep Chandra Kaushik, the president conducted
a'mahabhishek' using 11 kg of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and powdered sugar while
chanting Giriraj Dharan ki Jai and other hymns. Murmu was given a
silver idol of Giriraj Ji Maharaj, as well as a ceremonial stole and prasad, he
said. According to spiritual beliefs, the Braj area, going back to Krishna's
time (Dwapar Yug), has three everlasting elements: Giriraj Ji, Braj Bhoomi, and
the Yamuna River.
The
president then finished the circumambulation of the Govardhan hills, smiling
and waving to devotees as she went, temple sewayat Pawan Kaushik said. She
walked roughly 200 metres before taking a golf cart to complete the remainder
of the parikrama. Murmu was escorted by the Uttar Pradesh Governor and a
Cabinet Minister. The president also stopped at the Mukut Mukharbind Temple
near Mansi Ganga. During her brief trip, she donated flowers, coconut, and
conducted the Mansi Ganga aarti, according to temple sewayat Vinod Kumar
Sharma. While she was there, saints performed bhajans on clarinet, dhol, and
nagaras. The president planted a banyan tree at Govardhan and engaged with
youngsters who came to participate in cultural activities. Murmu went for Delhi
following the programme.
According
to an official announcement, Governor Anandiben Patel watched her depart at the
helipad. Murmu's three-day tour to the state began March 19 in Ayodhya. She had
already visited the Ram Janmabhoomi.
