Jammu, 21 March (H.S.): The dilapidated condition of the National Highway stretch from BSF Gate to Panj Peer in Rajouri town has become a matter of serious concern, causing immense inconvenience to thousands of commuters on a daily basis.
This crucial stretch of the highway, which witnesses heavy movement of vehicles, pedestrians, school children, patients and traders throughout the day, is riddled with deep potholes, uneven surfaces and damaged patches. During rainy weather, the situation worsens further as water accumulates in the potholes, leading to frequent traffic jams, vehicle breakdowns and a high risk of accidents.
Local residents have expressed strong resentment over the continued neglect of this vital road, stating that despite repeated complaints and representations, no concrete steps have been taken to restore the highway to a motorable condition.
Shopkeepers and daily commuters allege that the damaged road not only wastes time and fuel but also poses a serious threat to lives, especially for two-wheelers and pedestrians. The public has urged the concerned authorities, particularly the National Highway authorities and district administration, to take immediate cognizance of the issue and initiate urgent repair and upgradation work.
They have demanded proper resurfacing, filling of potholes and ensuring smooth traffic flow to relieve the public from daily hardship.
