March (HS): A 58-year-old man was detained on Friday after reportedly raping
his six-year-old granddaughter at their house, according to police. The man was
caught in the act by his family members, but he managed to leave when they
rushed the girl to the hospital, according to authorities. Sachchidanand
Pandey, Station House Officer in Kotwali, stated that about 5 a.m. on March 17,
the girl's family members, who were on the ground floor, heard her crying and hurried
upstairs to discover her grandpa forcing himself on her. The girl's relatives
hurried her to the hospital. The culprit seized the chance and left the area,
according to Pandey. Following the child's recovery, her father filed a formal
complaint against his father late Thursday night.
According
to the SHO, a case was launched based on the complaint under Section 65 (2)
(committing rape on a lady under the age of 12) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences
(POCSO) Act. The accused, who was hiding at a relative's house, was apprehended
on Thursday night on a tip-off, Pandey said.
