New Delhi, 20 March (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 300 new electric buses from Indraprastha Bus Depot on Friday, dedicating them to public service while inaugurating the inter-state Nanak Sar-Ghaziabad bus service and laying the foundation stone for the Delhi Transport Corporation's (DTC) new office building.
In a post on her X social media account, the Chief Minister described this initiative as a transformative step that will accelerate Delhi's mobility, enhance connectivity, and simplify travel for residents. She highlighted that over 2,000 electric buses have been integrated into the DTC fleet in the past year, with plans underway to transition the entire fleet to zero-emission vehicles for sustainable public transport.
Gupta also announced the revival of the EV incentive portal, dormant since 2023, through which subsidies worth ₹24 crore have been disbursed directly via Direct Benefit Transfer to 12,877 beneficiaries. Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah attended the event.
