New Delhi, 20 March (H.S.): Congress national spokesperson Dr. Shama Mohamed on Friday expressed disappointment over being denied a ticket for the Kerala Assembly elections, labelling the allocation of just nine tickets to women among 92 seats as deeply worrying.

Writing on the social media platform X, the Kochi‑born dentist and Congress media panel member said, “We have been denied, but we have not lost.” She urged Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to address the issue and support Congress women in Kerala, highlighting that only one of the 16 Lok Sabha tickets in 2024 went to a woman.

Dr. Mohamed stressed that even when women are capable and qualified, they are being sidelined, calling the situation distressing. A member of the All‑India Congress Committee, she has been active in the party since 2015, regularly raising issues related to women’s education and safety.
