Pradesh's skill model is setting example for country, focusing on
employable training

March (HS): During her visit to Lucknow on Thursday, Debashree Mukherjee,
Secretary, Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,
Government of India, conducted a detailed review of the skill development
programs and skill ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh. Upon her arrival in Lucknow, she
was welcomed by Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom, Director (Training) Abhishek
Singh, and Mission Director Pulkit Khare.
During the
visit, Secretary Debashree Mukherjee inspected the Uttar Pradesh Skill
Development Mission Headquarters and the Government Industrial Training
Institute (ITI), Aliganj. In the Principal's room, she received detailed
information about the various trades and training programs offered at the
institute. She then visited the Raymond Tailoring Center and interacted with
trainees to receive feedback on the quality of the training.
Secretary
Mukherjee inspected the state-of-the-art labs and workshops established in
collaboration with Tata Technology and appreciated the modern machinery
available and the quality of training. Also, while inspecting the workshops of
Royal Enfield and Maruti Suzuki, she praised the youth being prepared according
to the needs of the industries. During the inspection of the AutoCAD lab,
Secretary Mukherjee especially praised the drawings being prepared by the
trainees through modern techniques. She also inspected the Turner workshop and
interacted with the students undergoing training there to know their
experiences.
The
Skill Rath, operated by the HCL Foundation-supported Gray Sim
Learning Foundation, was also visited on the occasion, which the Secretary
appreciated. She said that such initiatives play a vital role in connecting youth
with skills development. During the review meeting, officials gave
presentations on innovations, apprenticeship schemes, self-employment, and
private sector participation in the state. Secretary Mukherjee praised the
state government's efforts, saying that Uttar Pradesh's skills model is
becoming an example for the country.
Principal
Secretary Dr Hari Om and Mission Director Pulkit Khare also presented Secretary
Debashree Mukherjee a coffee table book titled 'Kaushal Deep' based on the
Mission's achievements and successful models. During the inspection, Secretary
Mukherjee directed that skill development programmes should be made more
industry-based and employment-oriented, so that the youth can be prepared as
per the market demand. She said that equipping the training institutes with
modern resources and ensuring quality is the priority of the government to
empower the youth. Additional Director Manpal Singh, Rajendra Prasad, Director
(Technical) DK Singh, Joint Director Anil Verma, Principal of Women's ITI
Shivani Pankaj and other officials were present on the occasion.
