Thiruvananthapuram, 16 March (H.S.) :Even though the Assembly election in Kerala has already been announced, eligible citizens still have an opportunity to enrol their names in the electoral roll. Election authorities have clarified that voters can submit applications to include their names in the voter list until March 23, the last date for filing nominations for the upcoming Assembly polls.
Officials said individuals who have not yet registered as voters can apply online through the official website of the Election Commission at www.ceo.gov.in. In addition, applicants may download the ECI Net mobile application, complete a one-time registration process, and submit their request for inclusion in the electoral roll digitally.
Authorities explained that residents living in Kerala must fill out Form 6 to register as voters. Meanwhile, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who wish to enrol in the electoral roll should submit Form 6A.
According to the latest figures released by the Election Commission, Kerala currently has 27,118,838 registered voters. Among them, around 4.24 lakh are newly enrolled voters, reflecting a significant addition to the state’s electorate ahead of the Assembly election.
The data also highlights the presence of 1,571 voters who are aged above 100 years, demonstrating the participation of elderly citizens in the democratic process.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had earlier emphasised that the Election Commission is making every effort to ensure that all eligible voters are able to exercise their franchise. Authorities have urged citizens who have not yet registered to take advantage of the remaining time and complete the process at the earliest.
The Kerala Assembly election is scheduled to be held on April 9, and the final electoral roll will determine the list of voters eligible to cast their ballots in the 140 constituencies across the state.
