Amravati, 16 Mar (HS): Frustrated by shortage of

cooking gas cylinders, people fled with domestic use cylinders seized by the

authorities from a hotel. People also torn the ‘Panchnama’ in the melee. The

incident occurred in Daryapur, when the authorities were initiating action

against some hotels near Anjangaon T-point in Daryapur on Sunday.

During the action, a large number of people

gathered. The Revenue Department officials conducting the raids seized 15 domestic

use gas cylinders and had placed them into the government vehicles. In a hustle-bustle

some people started pushing the Revenue Officials and damaged the documents

which were prepared after the seizure. Meanwhile, some people stole the cylinders

from the government vehicles and fled the site.

Police were summoned immediately. Despite repeated

appeals by the police and Revenue officers, none returned the stolen gas

cylinders. A complaint through Naib Tahasildar Pramod Kale has been lodged with

Daryapur Police.
