New Delhi, 13 March (H.S.): The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026 was introduced in the Lok Sabha today, aiming to broaden the legal definition of transgender persons for greater inclusivity.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar presented the bill, which amends the existing 2019 Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act.

Notably, an advisory committee chaired by Justice Asha Menon was formed in October 2025 to evaluate the 2019 Act's implementation.
