New Delhi, 13 March (H.S.): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal attended the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting Friday, deliberating Assam Assembly poll strategies.

Assam MP and Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi told reporters extensive seat discussions occurred, with expectations of the first candidate list release by Saturday—covering most seats and clarifying alliance allocations.

Elections across five states including Assam may be announced by month-end or early next month. Gogoi sidestepped queries on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ties.
