New Delhi, 12 March (H.S.): A bench led by Chief Justice Suryakant refused to entertain a petition seeking to bring Subhas Chandra Bose's ashes from Tokyo's Renkoji Temple to India.During the hearing, Netaji's daughter Anita Bose Pfaff appeared via video conference. Petitioner Ashish Ray, represented by Abhishek Manu Singhvi, accused the Centre of failing to act; the court questioned the repeated litigation, asking for proof of the ashes' authenticity given Netaji's stature.

Singhvi noted Pfaff as the sole heir; the bench replied that had she filed directly, they might consider it, respecting her sentiments but requiring her personal appearance.
