Thiruvananthapuram, 11 March (H.S.)
A young woman who shot to nationwide fame during the Kumbh Mela earlier this year has now begun a new chapter in her life in Kerala. Monalisa Bhosale, who went viral on social media while selling rudraksha beads at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, got married after seeking police protection when her family opposed her relationship.
Monalisa arrived at the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram seeking help after tensions arose between her and her family regarding her marriage. The issue was resolved after police intervention, and the couple eventually tied the knot at the Nainar Temple in Arumanur near Poovar in the district.
The groom, Farman Khan, is a native of Maharashtra. According to reports, the two had met during the shooting of a film in which Monalisa is currently acting. The film’s shoot was being held in Vizhinjam and Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram district. During the filming, Monalisa and the young man, who plays the lead role in the same movie, developed a romantic relationship.
However, their relationship reportedly faced opposition from Monalisa’s family members, including her father. Her relatives wanted her to marry another young man who was a relative. As disagreements escalated, the couple approached the Thampanoor Police Station seeking protection.
Police officials informed the family that Monalisa had already turned 18 and therefore had the legal right to live with and marry a person of her choice. Following discussions facilitated by the police, the issue was eventually settled, paving the way for the wedding to take place at the temple near Poovar.
Monalisa Bhosale first gained widespread attention during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. She was seen selling rudraksha garlands when a video of her went viral on social media. The clip quickly attracted massive online attention, turning her into an internet sensation.
The sudden fame drew large crowds who gathered just to see her, making it difficult for her to continue selling the rudraksha beads. As the crowds grew and business was disrupted, her father reportedly asked her to return home.
Soon after the viral fame, Monalisa began receiving opportunities in the film industry. She recently stepped into cinema and is currently working on her debut project, marking a dramatic transformation from a rudraksha seller at the Kumbh Mela to a rising face in films.
