Kolkata, 28 February (H.S.): On the occasion of Dolyatra, Eastern Railway has once again decided to cancel several local trains due to anticipated low passenger traffic. Dolyatra is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd. A total of 65 local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled in the Howrah Division on this day. Every year, several local trains are cancelled in the Sealdah and Howrah Divisions during the morning hours of Dolyatra, and this year was no exception.

According to railway officials, passenger traffic on Dolyatra, especially in the morning hours, is significantly lower than on normal days, which is why this decision has been taken. Keeping passenger safety and operational balance in mind, trains have been cancelled on various routes in the Howrah Division.

A total of five local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled on the Howrah-Burdwan Main Line. These include trains numbered 37819, 37711, and 37843 in the up direction, and trains numbered 37822 and 37612 in the down direction.

The Howrah–Burdwan chord line has been most affected. Thirteen local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled on this route. Trains numbered 36071, 36817, 36825, 36827, 36081, and 36033 in the up direction, and 36072, 36814, 36830, 36834, 36082, 36034, and 36840 in the down direction.

The Howrah–Bandel main line has also been extensively curtailed. Fifteen local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled on this route. These include trains numbered 37213, 37215, 37219, 37221, 37227, 37243, 37201, and 37511 in the up direction, and 37224, 37202, 37232, 37236, 37240, 37246, and 37512 in the down direction.

Ten local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled on the Howrah-Sevdaphuli section. Trains numbered 37041, 37045, 37047, 37049, and 37055 in the up direction, and 37042, 37046, 37048, 37050, and 37056 in the down direction.

Eight local trains, both up and down, have been cancelled on the Howrah-Tarakeswar route. Trains numbered 37301, 37323, 37331, and 37413 in the up direction, and 37302, 37332, 37342, and 37414 in the down direction will be cancelled.

In addition, six local trains on the Naihati-Bandel route, four local trains on the Howrah-Shrirampur route, and four local trains on the Burdwan-Katwa section have also been cancelled.

However, a welcome news for passengers is that two local trains of the Howrah division will stop at all stations. These include the 37815 Howrah-Burdwan local and the 37824 Burdwan-Howrah local. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to check train status before travelling.
