
Mumbai, 26 Feb (HS): A
total of 1290 new vehicles were made available to Mumbai Police to facilitate
action in emergencies recorded pon phone numbers 100 or 112. The vehicles were
flagged off by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Murli Devra Square, Nariman
Point in Mumbai.
Minister of State for Home Affairs (Urban) Yogesh
Kadam, Police Commissioner Devan Bharti, Joint Police Commissioner S Jaykumar
and senior police officers were present.
The vehicles include 633 four-wheelers and 657
two-wheelers. The existing time of response by police is 5.30 minutes, which
would be reduced by the addition of new vehicles.
Mumbai Police has 90 police stations under it. Four
Scorpio, one Armenia and five two-wheelers will be given to each police
station. The four-wheelers are equipped with GPS system, Data Terminal and
Vehicle Tracking systems.
