Lucknow,
26 Feb (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has often praised
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar as a great hero of the twentieth century, hailing his
involvement in the liberation fight and contribution to the philosophy of
Hindutva. According to Adityanath, Savarkar was not given the recognition he
deserved after independence and was disregarded by past governments. The UP
chief minister argued that if Congress had heeded Savarkar's warnings, India's
partition may have been prevented. He has credited Savarkar for coining the
term Hindutva and supporting a nationalist philosophy aimed at averting
secession and terrorism. Yogi Adityanath published a book in 2022 called Veer
Savarkar - Who Could Stop India's Partition and His National Security Vision.
Adityanath
has actively marked Savarkar's birth and death anniversaries, hailing him as a
revolutionary, writer, poet, and philosopher. Adityanath has regularly said
that Savarkar's nationalist ideas are an inspiration to India and have backed
his presentation as a prominent national hero.
In
a post on X, he stated, “Humble tributes to the dynamic revolutionary and
brilliant thinker, Swatantryaveer, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, on his
death anniversary. Your sacrifice and struggle for the nation's independence
and cultural identity and integrity will forever be etched in golden letters in
India's history. Your entire dynamic life is an endless inspiration for
patriotism.”
