Guwahati, 26 February (HS): Launching a scathing criticism of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi over the issue of a possible opposition alliance, Independent MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed on Thursday made it clear that the debate holds little significance for him.

He maintained that the formation or failure of any alliance would not influence his political course, asserting firmly that he will contest the upcoming election from the Mandia constituency regardless of the situation.

Expressing doubt over the opposition’s strength, Ahmed remarked that even a united front of all anti-BJP forces at this juncture would have only a slim chance of defeating the ruling party.----------
