Guwahati, 26 February (HS): The Chief Minister of Assam on Thursday asserted that it is “impossible” for the Congress to secure even six indigenous seats in the state under the present political scenario, intensifying his attack on the opposition parties over their proposed alliance.
Commenting on the reported rift between the Indian National Congress and the Raijor Dal, the Chief Minister said talking to media after participating in a program, the dispute revolves around constituencies where nearly 90% of the electorate comprises Miya Muslims. He alleged that both parties are primarily dependent on the Miya Muslim vote bank and are engaged in a tussle over the same support base.
Stating that “they have forgotten us,” the Chief Minister claimed that indigenous, Indian and Sanatani voters have distanced themselves from the opposition. He expressed confidence that in the upcoming elections, 100% of indigenous, Indian and Sanatani people would cast their votes in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Chief Minister further remarked that the opposition’s proposed alliance lacks clarity and cohesion and maintained that such political arrangements would not pose any significant challenge to the BJP in Assam.---------------
