New Delhi, 25 February (H.S.): The Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a ban on the film Yadav Ji Ki Love Story, with a bench presided over by Justice B.V. Nagarathna ruling against any restraint on its release. The court clarified that this decision diverges from its prior order on Ghuskhore Pandit, noting Ghuskhore translates to corrupt in English—a negative connotation tied to a community. Here, no such negativity attaches to the Yadav community, the bench observed.

Responding to claims of communal targeting via the title, the court posed: If a Hindu girl marries a Muslim boy, does that harm the national fabric? The petitioner, Vishwa Yadav Parishad chief, argued the film—touted as based on true events—stigmatizes Yadavs. Counsel cited Bandit Queen, where similar Gujjar community objections failed Supreme Court scrutiny.
