
New Delhi, 25 February (H.S.): A Saket court has remanded a couple arrested for hurling racial abuse at three young women from Northeast India to 14 days' judicial custody in a Malviya Nagar incident.Judicial Magistrate First Class Bhanu Pratap Singh ordered accused Ruby Jain and Harsh to custody until March 11. Police stated the victims, from Arunachal Pradesh, were renting a house where repairs were underway on February 20 when Ruby Jain subjected them to racial slurs and derogatory remarks.
An FIR was registered at Malviya Nagar police station on the women's complaint. Charges invoked include Sections 79, 351(2), 196, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside SC-ST Act provisions. After investigation, police arrested the couple and produced them in court.
