Delhi, 23 February (H.S.): The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has warned attendees of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 about an ongoing phishing scam targeting participants through fraudulent messages.
In a post on social media, the ministry said that deceptive communications were being circulated via SMS and WhatsApp, seeking sensitive personal and financial information under the pretext of processing refunds. It clarified that such messages were not official and had not been authorised by the organisers.
The ministry urged attendees to remain vigilant and avoid responding to unsolicited requests for card details, WhatsApp contact information or other confidential data. Participants were advised to rely only on official communication channels for updates related to the event.
“Please note: It has come to our attention that a Phishing Scam is currently targeting attendees of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Fraudulent messages are being circulated via SMS and WhatsApp, requesting sensitive information to facilitate refunds,” the ministry said in its advisory.
It further stated that individuals who may have already shared their information through suspicious links should immediately contact their respective banks to secure their accounts and prevent potential financial loss.
