According to the police, bombs were being manufactured inside the hotel. On information, the police, bomb squad, and fire brigade teams reached the scene and began the process of defusing the bombs.
According to police sources, a tip-off was received early Sunday morning that at least 50 fresh bombs were present in a hotel in the area. Locals alleged that the bombs were being manufactured within the hotel. Acting on this information, the police swiftly raided the hotel, where explosives and bombs were recovered.
Following the incident, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area. The bomb squad is continuing to safely defuse the bombs. Seven people have been detained in connection with the case, while police suspect more may be involved.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ricky Agarwal stated that a joint team was formed and launched an operation based on a tip-off, during which several bombs were recovered and are being defused. He added that a thorough investigation is underway.
The hotel is located in a densely populated area of Ward No. 1 of Bolpur Municipality, raising serious concerns about the safety of tourists and local residents. The BJP claimed that Babu Das, the husband of Municipality Chairman Sangeeta Das and a local Trinamool leader who is said to be close to Minister Chandranath Singh, is involved in the hotel's operation. The Trinamool Congress has yet to officially respond to these allegations.
