New Delhi, 22 February (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today during the 131st episode of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat that the Rajaji Utsav will be celebrated at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 23, featuring the unveiling of a statue of C. Rajagopalachari, independent India's first Indian Governor-General, in the central lawn.
PM Modi emphasized India's shift away from colonial symbols toward honoring its cultural heritage, with Rashtrapati Bhavan taking a significant step through this event. Previously, a statue of British architect Edwin Lutyens occupied the space; it will now be replaced by Rajagopalachari's statue, symbolizing national reclamation.
The Prime Minister portrayed Rajagopalachari as a towering figure who viewed authority not as privilege but selfless service, with his public conduct, self-discipline, and independent thinking continuing to inspire Indians today.
Addressing exam-preparing students,PM Modi encouraged them to embrace their inner Exam Warriors, maintain self-confidence, and remember that marksheets do not define worth. He advised writing from the heart, ignoring tough questions' mental hold, sustaining dialogue with parents and teachers, and assured success in exams and life.
PM Modi paid tribute to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, noting her enduring popularity and remarkable efforts for women's empowerment, which will be remembered forever.
