Guwahati, 22 February (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the BJP will launch its ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ across the state from February 28 and will field candidates for all three Rajya Sabha seats from Assam.
Addressing the media after a core meeting of the BJP’s Election Management Committee at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati last night, the Chief Minister said the party has decided to contest two of the Rajya Sabha seats directly. Regarding the third seat, he stated that the party would closely observe the opposition’s move and prepare its strategy accordingly.
Sarma further clarified that the BPF has not sought any seat in the Rajya Sabha elections. He described the meeting as significant and said several key organisational and electoral decisions were taken during the deliberations.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Jan Ashirwad Yatra would strengthen the party’s outreach across Assam and mobilise public support ahead of the upcoming political engagements.----------
