Sonitpur (Assam), 21 February (HS): Tezpur Police arrested a 29-year-old man after Friday midnight on the basis of specific intelligence inputs and recovered a pistol along with sharp-edged weapons from his rented accommodation.

According to police sources, acting on confidential information, a team from Tezpur Police carried out a raid at a rented house under Tezpur Police Station jurisdiction and apprehended Ibrahim Ali (29), a resident of Samdora in the Panchmile area of Tezpur.

During the search operation, police recovered and seized the factory-made .22 pistol along with five rounds of live ammunition. A sword and a khukuri were also found inside the house.

Officials stated that the recovered weapons have been seized as evidence and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the arms and to determine whether the accused has any links with a criminal network.-----------
