Lucknow,
21 Feb (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath provided crop compensation of Rs. 285
crore to 251, 000 farmer families in Uttar Pradesh at a program held at his
official residence on Saturday. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath said that by insuring crops, financial assistance is received in
case of crop loss during a disaster; this amount is a support to the farmers
who feed the nation.
Addressing
the distribution of assistance funds under the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance
Scheme and the Chief Minister's Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme, Chief Minister
Yogi said that crop compensation of Rs 285 crore has been provided to 251,000
farmer families in the state. These are farmers who have suffered losses due to
excessive rainfall or drought. He said that disasters are dangerous. No one can
compensate for the loss of a human being, but the government is standing by to
provide support. Today, the government is connecting the farmers, who provide
food, with the scheme. The government will always be ready to cooperate.
The
Chief Minister said that crop insurance costs a small amount, but if there is a
loss due to a disaster, it can be compensated this way. I was watching here that
some farmers received an amount of Rs. 117,000, another Rs. 172,000, another
Rs. 211,000, and another Rs. 88,000. This is a support for all the farmers who
provide food.
Previously,
when disasters struck the state, victims would go unrewarded for years.
Compensation was a distant dream; in 2015-16, farmers saw only two or four
rupees deposited into their accounts. The government changed, and we initiated
action. We are now providing relief to victims within 24 hours of a disaster.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of State Baldev Singh Aulakh,
and government officials were present on the occasion.
