Kolkata, 21 February (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Education and MP Dr. Sukanta Majumdar has strongly reacted to the legal notice sent by former West Bengal Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar. In his statement on Saturday, Sukanta Majumdar launched a direct political attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former DGP Rajeev Kumar.
Sukanta Majumdar stated, This legal notice has been sent to me through his lawyer on behalf of former DGP Rajeev Kumar, who enjoys the favour of failed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The notice claims that Rajeev Kumar's image has been damaged by the public exposure of his true character.
He further stated that questioning the actions and roles of individuals in public life and exposing the truth is not defamation in any way. Sukanta Majumdar categorically stated that he will not be intimidated by such notices nor will he shy away from speaking the truth. He described this as an attempt to suppress freedom of expression and democratic rights.
Notably a legal notice was sent to Sukanta Majumdar on behalf of former DGP Rajeev Kumar through advocate Nandini Chatterjee. The notice alleged that false, fabricated, and defamatory allegations were made against Rajeev Kumar through videos and statements circulated on social media and digital platforms, causing serious damage to his social standing and professional image. The notice demanded the removal of all allegedly objectionable content within seven days and an unconditional public apology, failing which civil and criminal action was threatened.
