Dibrugarh (Assam), 21 February (HS): A jewellery trader was attacked and robbed by miscreants in the Moran area of Dibrugarh district, police said on Saturday.

According to police sources, the incident took place late Friday night when Subhashish Karmakar, owner of Kamakhya Jewellers, was returning home after closing his shop along with one of his employees. On the way, a group of robbers allegedly intercepted them and launched an assault before fleeing with jewellery worth ₹7.5 lakh that the trader was carrying from the shop.

Both the shop owner and his employee sustained injuries in the attack. Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered based on the complaint lodged by the jewellery trader and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.----------
