South 24 Paragnas, 21 February (H.S.): A sensational murder case has come to light in the Jaynagar area of South 24 Parganas district. The accused, who had fled after strangling his married lover to death in their rented house, has finally been apprehended by the police. Based on mobile tower location, Jaynagar police conducted raids in Karnataka and arrested the accused, Masadur Rahman Molla, on February 18th.

According to police, the accused, Masadur Rahman Molla, is a resident of Bagmari village in the Bakultala police station area of Jaynagar. After the murder, he traveled to Howrah, where he changed his mobile SIM card, and then went to Karnataka to hide with his second wife. However, through technical surveillance, police traced his location and apprehended him.

The accused was brought to Jaynagar on Saturday and subsequently presented in the Baruipur Magistrate Court. During interrogation, the accused admitted to having an extramarital affair with the deceased, Anjuara (23). The accused claims that a dispute and suspicion led to a fight between the two, after which he strangled Anjuara to death and fled to Karnataka.

According to police sources, Anjuara's maternal home is in Mandirbazar area, while her in-laws' home is in Suryapur, under the Baruipur police station jurisdiction. It is reported that about four months ago, Anjuara left her husband and two young children and moved with the accused to Mashtikari village, under South Barasat Gram Panchayat, under Jaynagar police station jurisdiction. The two rented a house there, posing as husband and wife, and it was there that the murder took place.

Following this incident, the deceased woman's family has demanded the harshest punishment for the accused. Police are further investigating the case, and legal proceedings are underway for murder charges.
