
Bhubaneswar, 21 February (H.S.): Vigilance officials in Odisha have arrested Bhagabat Bhusan Behera, a Forester at the Bhawanipatna Forest Range in Kalahandi district, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The arrest followed extensive searches of Behera’s properties, which uncovered significant unaccounted wealth. Seized assets include a newly constructed multi-storey building, nine high-value plots, approximately 470 grams of gold, bank deposits worth ₹34.08 lakh, and several vehicles. Among the vehicles seized were two Kubota Harvester machines, four tractors, one Ashok Leyland Tipper, one BharatBenz Hyva, one Bolero, and one Toyota car, all allegedly acquired through corrupt means.
A case has been registered against Behera under Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 02/2026, and he is scheduled to be presented before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, today.
