
Baghpat,
21 Feb (HS): A Delhi Police constable committed suicide by shooting himself in
Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh. A post-mortem examination has been conducted,
and police have recovered a service pistol from the scene, and the case is
under investigation.
The
deceased Delhi Police constable, Piyush, was a resident of Azampur Moolsam
village in the Baghpat district. Piyush was recruited under the compassionate
appointment quota in 2018-19 after his father's death. His elder brother works
abroad. Piyush was not yet married. According to reports, Piyush had gone to
his village on Friday evening. Late in the evening, he shot himself with his
service pistol at home. Piyush was admitted to a private hospital in Barot in
critical condition by his family, from where he was referred to a higher
center. He died later that night. Police at the Doghat police station recovered
Piyush's service pistol from the scene, and the case is under investigation.
Doghat
police station in-charge Suryadeep Singh says that Piyush had become addicted
to alcohol. His family tried to reason with him, but he refused. It has been
revealed that he also drank alcohol on Friday and shot himself while intoxicated.
A post-mortem examination has been conducted. Legal action will be taken based
on the post-mortem report. A pistol has also been recovered from the scene and
sent for forensic examination.
