Meerut,
21 Feb (HS): With the full opening of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat
Corridor on February 22, commuters would be able to travel from Sarai Kale Khan
to Meerut in 55 minutes. The much-anticipated Delhi Meerut Namam Bharat
corridor is now running over a 55-kilometer span from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut
South, servicing 11 stops.
The
full 82.15-kilometer Delhi-Meerut corridor will be operational after a
5-kilometer stretch between new Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat
Station and a 21-kilometer Meerut South, with PM Narendra Modi inaugurating
Modipuram on February 22, 2026, according to the NCRTC. The railway line
contains 16 significant stations, including Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar,
Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut
South.
The
inauguration of stations is intended to assist travelers from Delhi, Ghaziabad,
Meerut, and Faridabad, as well as Gurugram and Noida. National Capital Region
Corporation (NCRTC) developed the railway station. Stations are also multimodal
transportation hubs. Passengers will have access to railways, buses, metros,
and other forms of transportation from the station.
Train
service is scheduled to shift means of transportation in the Delhi-NCR. The
design speed of the Namo Bharat train is 180 km/h, which is projected to
significantly shorten travel time between Delhi and Meerut. The train's
greatest operational speed, however, will be 160 kilometers per hour.
The
foundation for the corridor was set on March 8, 2019 and has been under
development for almost four years. The first operating portion of the route was
opened on October 20, 2023.
