Guwahati, 21 February (HS): All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Saturday announced that he will contest the upcoming Assembly elections from the Binnakandi constituency. He also declared that his party will field candidates in 25 constituencies across the state.
Addressing the media, Ajmal launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party has now become “only a Muslim party” and has lost the support of the Assamese community. He claimed that no Assamese voters are currently backing the Congress.
The AIUDF leader further asserted that the Congress would fail to secure both Muslim and tea garden community votes in the elections. He expressed confidence that the AIUDF would perform strongly in the constituencies where it plans to contest.
