Meerut,
21 Feb (HS): With less than a year left for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly
elections, the party has begun working to expand its vote bank. Indications of
this are emerging from Meerut. The BJP has gone on the offensive as part of its
strategy to strengthen its political hold in the Jat-dominated region of
western Uttar Pradesh.
Prime
Minister Narendra Modi will hold a rally in Meerut on Sunday, and the BJP sees
this as a crucial opportunity to expand its Jat vote bank. The BJP will attempt
to leverage this social equation by inaugurating development projects ahead of
the 2027 assembly elections.
Attempt
to woo the Jat vote bank: The rally is believed to be primarily aimed at
re-engaging Jat voters who drifted away from the BJP following the farmers'
protests. Following the inauguration of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Rapid Rail
and the Meerut Metro, the event in Muzaffarnagar is not being considered a mere
formality.
The
party will list its achievements: The BJP is highlighting the Metro and Namo
Bharat projects as achievements of the double engine government and
linking them to a strategy to convey a political message to a wider electorate.
According to party sources, preparations are underway to turn the event into an
electoral show of strength. The BJP has made development, employment, and
organized easternism the cornerstone of its campaign so that the message from
Meerut reaches other parts of the state effectively and the party's vote bank
expands.
The
traffic police have implemented alternative route arrangements for the proposed
visit of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday. The
diversion will be implemented on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Yamuna
Expressway, and routes connecting to the Delhi border for the event held at
India Expo Private Limited in Sector 28 of YEIDA.
