
Kolkata, 21 February (H.S.): On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shared an emotional message on the social media platform X on Saturday. She paid tribute to all language martyrs and language activists, paying respect to all languages and language speakers around the world.
In her message, Mamata Banerjee stated that she respects not only the Bengali language of Rabindranath, Nazrul, Sukanta, and Jibanananda, but also every language in the world. She expressed pride that during her tenure, languages such as Hindi, Santhali, Kurukh, Kudmali, Nepali, Urdu, Rajbanshi, Kamtapuri, Punjabi, and Telugu have been granted government recognition. Efforts have also been made to develop the Sadri language.
The Chief Minister informed that the Hindi Academy, Rajbanshi Language Academy, Kamtapuri Language Academy, and Santhali Academy have been established. She also vowed to ensure that every native speaker in the state can receive education in their mother tongue.
Concluding her message, Mamata Banerjee reiterated her resolve to stand united against any language being attacked. She emphasized that all languages are equally respected.
