
Cooch Behar, 21 February (H.S.) : In a major administrative reshuffle ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, the district police in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar have transferred 46 police officers, including officers-in-charge (OCs) of five key police stations.
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Karra said the transfers were carried out as a routine measure in compliance with the guidelines and norms of the Election Commission prior to the polls.
According to police sources, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sahebganj police station, Ajit Kumar Saha, has been transferred to Boxirhat. Nakul Roy will take charge as the new OC of Sahebganj.
Similarly, OC of Ghoksadanga police station, Biswajit Mallik, has been posted to Kuchlibari police station, while Ashraf Alam, who was serving as OC of Kuchlibari, has been shifted to Ghoksadanga.
In another key change, OC of Dinhata Women’s Police Station, Suniti Subba, has been transferred to Haldibari police station. Rohita Lama from Mathabhanga will take charge at Dinhata Women’s Police Station.
Ajay Roy has been assigned charge of Nishiganj Outpost. Additionally, Chitta Pal of Kotwali police station has been given the responsibility of District Control Room in-charge.
The reshuffle is seen as part of standard administrative adjustments undertaken ahead of elections to ensure impartiality and smooth conduct of the electoral process.
