Kolkata, 20 February (H.S.):

Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya, in a post on the social media platform 'X' late Thursday night, launched a scathing attack on the state government over law and order in West Bengal. He alleged that under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's rule, Bomb-making seems to be the only “thriving industry” in West Bengal.

Malviya said that the massive explosion and subsequent fire in the Kapoor Garden area of Ward No. 21 in Purulia has terrified the people of the area. Citing local sources, he claimed that illegal bomb-making was underway at the site. Three people are reported to be in critical condition.

The BJP leader said that the people of Purulia deserve answers and accountability for this incident. He added that BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato has demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation to uncover the truth.

Amit Malviya questioned whether Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who holds the Home portfolio, would once again try to evade the truth under the guise of technical excuses. He stressed that public safety cannot be compromised and that those responsible for the blast must be identified and severely punished.
