Guwahati, 20 February (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday paid rich tributes to eminent Assamese intellectual Dr Bhabendra Nath Saikia on the occasion of his birth anniversary, recalling his immense contribution to the state’s literary and cultural life.

In his social media message, the Chief Minister described Dr Saikia as a distinguished personality and a profound thinker who enriched the national life of Assam with his knowledge and wisdom. He said that Dr Saikia remained an indelible presence across multiple spheres of society, literature and culture.

Dr Sarma noted that the scholar’s discipline, deep insight and vast understanding of diverse subjects inspired generations. He added that even in his absence, Dr Saikia’s extensive creative works continue to enrich and elevate Assamese literature and culture.

The Chief Minister offered his respectful homage to the revered figure on his sacred birth anniversary, remembering him as one of Assam’s most illustrious sons.-----------
