Bhubaneswar, 18 February (H.S.): On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and State BJP President Manmohan Samal participated in the “Rashtriya Gaurav Yatra” and paid floral tributes to the statue of the Maratha warrior king at the party’s state office here on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Shivaji Maharaj was among India’s most courageous and progressive rulers, renowned as the founder of the Maratha Empire and an outstanding military commander and administrator. He noted that Shivaji achieved several victories against the Mughal Empire and was coronated as “Chhatrapati” in 1674. His courage and life philosophy continue to inspire generations, Majhi added.
The Chief Minister stated that the festival commemorates the life and contributions of one of India’s most respected rulers, whose administrative excellence and military leadership remain exemplary even today.
The yatra, which began in Nashik, Maharashtra and is heading towards Puri, reached the state headquarters where leaders offered garlands and flowers in tribute.
Speaking on the occasion, Samal said the procession is a source of inspiration that will strengthen unity, integrity and sovereignty across the country. He added that Shivaji Maharaj, regarded as an emperor in people’s hearts, motivated ordinary soldiers to achieve extraordinary feats. The yatra will particularly inspire the youth with confidence and moral courage and provide new direction to society, he said.
Several ministers of the state government, MLAs, party office-bearers, senior leaders and workers were present and offered floral tributes to the statue.
