Militants Held, Vehicles and Drugs Recovered in multiple operations in Manipur

Imphal, 19 January (HS): Manipur Police, along with combined security forces, carried out a series of coordinated operations across the state during the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of militants and criminals, besides the recovery of stolen vehicles and contraband.

In the Imphal East district, security forces arrested an extortionist identified as an active cadre of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF). The arrested individual has been identified as Ningthoujam Sanathoi Singh (26), a resident of Yourabung Khunou Ward-IV under Lamlai Police Station. He was apprehended from his residence and a mobile phone was seized from his possession.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police recovered two stolen vehicles from Tuisen Village under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The recovered vehicles include a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 bearing registration number MN01AR-8324 and a Honda Activa scooter without any registration number. Police said the two vehicles were found parked by unidentified persons and further investigation is underway.

In another operation in Thoubal district, security forces arrested Md. Riyash Khan (31) of Sangaiyumpham Nungpou Mathak Leikai under Thoubal Police Station from his residence. A substantial quantity of contraband items was recovered from him, including bottles of Delstal and Berrycof cough syrup, Nitrazepam tablets, a mobile phone and other documents.

Security forces also apprehended a cadre of the KCP (Noyon) group from Imphal East district. The arrested cadre has been identified as Puthem Iton Meitei alias Tomba (33), a resident of Keirao Wangkhem Maning Leikai under Irilbung Police Station. A mobile phone was seized during the arrest.

In a separate operation in Imphal West district, Khulakpam Ayajuddin (41) of Bengoon Loukok Mayai Leikai under Mayang Imphal Police Station was arrested from his locality. Police recovered six soap cases containing Heroin No. 4 weighing a total of 283.2 grams from his possession.

Police officials stated that the operations were part of intensified security measures across Manipur and further investigations are ongoing in all the cases.---------
