Hooghly, 18 January (H.S.): A fire broke out in a vacant plot of land adjacent to the helipad near the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public rally in Singur on Sunday, shortly before the event was scheduled to begin. The helipad was designated for the landing of the Prime Minister’s helicopter.

On information, fire department teams rushed to the spot and quickly brought the fire under control. The fire was extinguished in time, preventing any major damage or casualties.

The incident caused a brief period of panic in the area. The BJP has termed the incident a conspiracy, alleging that the fire was deliberately set before the Primead Minister's rally and that the Trinamool Congress was behind it.

However, no official statement has yet been released by the administration or the fire department regarding the cause of the fire. The police are investigating the matter, and security arrangements have been further tightened.
