Chennai, 18 January (H.S.) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to officially kickstart the National Democratic Alliance, NDA, campaign for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on January 23.

According to BJP legislative party leader Nainar Nagenthran, the Prime Minister will address a massive public gathering in Madurantakam to signal the beginning of the electoral battle against the ruling DMK government.

This visit is expected to be a pivotal moment for the alliance as it seeks to position itself as the primary alternative to the major Dravidian parties in the 2026 polls.

Addressing reporters on Sunday, Nainar Nagenthran emphasized that the rally would serve as a platform to challenge the current administration, which he described as anti-people.

While questions regarding the final list of alliance partners remain, particularly concerning the inclusion of TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK, O Panneerselvam, and the DMDK, the BJP leader maintained a strategic silence.

He stated that the full strength of the alliance and all participating leaders would be visible on the stage during the Prime Minister’s visit, effectively ending the ongoing suspense regarding the coalition's composition.

Nainar Nagenthran also defended the AIADMK against DMK allegations of copying election promises, noting that previous promises had simply been updated.

Furthermore, he clarified that the Union Ministry of Defence had not rejected the proposed Hosur International Airport project but had merely sought specific clarifications.

The upcoming rally is anticipated to bring a significant shift in the political landscape of the state as the NDA prepares for a high-stakes election.
