Jammu, 17 January (H.S.): Ahead of Republic Day, SSP Samba Virinder Manhas today chaired a security review-cum-SMAC meeting at District Police Headquarters Samba to review preparedness and strengthen coordination among security agencies.

Officers from the Army, BSF, CISF, ITBP, GRP, Traffic Police, SOG, intelligence agencies and district police attended the meeting, along with Addl SP Samba, SDPOs and SHOs.

Security inputs from higher formations were discussed and all agencies were directed to generate actionable intelligence to foil any attempt by anti-national or anti-social elements.

The SSP stressed round-the-clock vigilance at National Highway nakas, strengthening of border nakas, surprise joint checking, intensified patrolling and surveillance, and special focus on vulnerable and suspected drone drop areas. Random night nakas and ambushes were also directed.

He further instructed officers to conduct verification of inhabitants and tenants near Republic Day venues and to check hotels and lodgements on priority.
