Kolkata, 17 January (H.S.) :

A domestic help in Kolkata has levelled serious allegations of molestation against a police officer, prompting the authorities to initiate an inquiry, police sources said on Saturday. The complainant submitted her complaint via email to the Kasba Police Station. The identity of the accused officer has not been disclosed so far.

According to the complaint, the woman is a resident of the Sonarpur police station area in South 24 Parganas district and was employed as a cook at the accused officer’s residence in Kolkata. She alleged that the officer took advantage of the absence of other family members at home and attempted to outrage her modesty.

The woman further claimed that when she resisted, she was falsely accused of theft. She also alleged that she was forced to write a statement on a blank sheet of paper under pressure.

The complainant said she could not approach the police station in person due to certain circumstances and therefore sent a written complaint to the Kasba police via email. She also alleged that she has been receiving continuous threats since the incident, leaving her terrified. The woman has demanded strict action against the accused police officer.

Speaking to the media, the complainant said, “When I was cleaning the floor, he molested me. When I protested, he threatened to take revenge. Later, I was falsely accused of theft and forced to write a statement saying that I would never steal again. The next day, the officer’s daughter-in-law called me and alleged that I had stolen gold jewellery from their house.”

The allegations against a serving police officer have caused a stir in the area, with growing demands for a fair and impartial investigation. No response has yet been received from the accused officer.

A senior Kolkata Police official confirmed the development, stating, “A complaint has been received and the matter is being investigated.”
